Second Opinions

The Second Opinion program is designed to significantly reduce overall medical costs while enhancing the quality of medical care provided to patients. With this service, expert staff radiologists complete a review of a previously performed diagnostic imaging examination and issue a detailed report. This second report speeds the treatment process because there is no need to repeat the diagnostic procedure itself. Images sent via teleradiology can be interpreted the same day without the inherent delay in appointment scheduling. The elimination of a repeat study saves up to 80% in cost and results in rapid appropriate treatment with early return-to-work status.

Expert film review can be used for:

  • Second Opinions – where the imaging findings do not match the clinical history or physical examination.
  • Comparison Reports – where studies of the same body part were performed at different times and there is difficulty in determining whether there has been an interval change.
  • Injury Aging – On occasion, the age of an injury can be determined from the observed imaging findings. This can be evaluated and reported.

“In addition to the pure diagnostic services, the ability to get second opinions by MDIA experts is very valuable. Other services do not offer this, making MDIA stand out within the industry.”
