History

MDIA is a professional medical corporation founded with the goal of providing high quality network diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostic services. Initially, network diagnostic services were offered solely to California clients. Subsequently, MDIA has expanded to become a premier national network provider.

Unique to the MDIA practice model is the fact that the two founding owner/radiologists, Ronald J. Friedman, M.D. and Gail M. Schlesinger, M.D., are on site and review examination requests to assure the proper examination, modality, and selection of equipment. MDIA has always offered its California clients the option of a centralized interpretation of the examination where the technical study is performed at one of the contract vendor sites and delivered to MDIA’s Board-certified and University Fellowship-trained radiologists for interpretation. This central reading model received wide acclamation for its objective, consistent and standardized reporting of examinations utilizing accurate terminology and a standard report format. This central model also affords ongoing quality assurance of its vendor sites and provides an opportunity for referring physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to communicate and discuss examination results. MDIA has cloned this model outside California when requested to do so by clients.

Realizing that the Electronic Health Record (EHR) would become an important component of the healthcare delivery system, MDIA developed ElectRIS as a means of providing network services over a broad geographic area with electronic connectivity, central web-based archiving and 24/7 HIPAA-compliant access to complete patient examinations and reports.
