With the launch of ElectRIS, MDIA is the first network diagnostic services company to provide a proprietary web-based electronic Radiology Information System (RIS) program with wide geographic connectivity. This connectivity, in combination with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), allows electronic transfer of complete diagnostic studies. Once the images are received and processed, this centralized and flexible platform facilitates paperless and filmless communication between physicians, payors, and clients. The ability to maintain a single electronic web-based source for accessing serial diagnostic imaging examinations enhances patient care and provides substantial cost savings. Examinations and reports are readily available for comparison, expert consultations, and remote conferencing. The time and cost of “lost” examinations is eliminated. This web-based, password-protected, HIPAA-compliant feature can be integrated with other health information systems using HL7 standards.
