
MDIA Professional and Business Management Team
MDIA was founded in 1993 by Ronald J. Friedman, M.D. and Gail M. Schlesinger, M.D. for the purpose of providing high-quality network diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostic services. Their radiology business experience enhanced their vision of the ElectRIS product as the true future of diagnostic imaging in the demanding areas of cost containment with improved quality of care. The MDIA management team has successfully overseen broad geographic connectivity throughout California, and continue their efforts extending MDIA’s electronic capabilities with the more than 2,300 vendor sites that currently comprise its growing national network.

Ronald J. Friedman, M.D., President & CEO
Dr. Friedman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Friedman completed a one-year University Fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imaging following 12 years as the Associate Director, and then Director, of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology in a Community Hospital. He currently holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Workers’ Compensation Fraud Task Force, Expert Reviewer for the California Medical Board, on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Administrative Radiology Journal, and serves the American College of Radiology as a member of the Committee on Government and Public Relations – Body MRI Commission on Neuroradiology and Magnetic Resonance. Dr. Friedman has published numerous articles on a variety of clinical and scientific topics, and has presented a full spectrum of lectures on radiology-related topics, nationally and internationally.

Gail M. Schlesinger, M.D., Executive Vice President & CFO
Dr. Schlesinger is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Schlesinger completed Fellowships in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Head and Neck Radiology at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. She currently holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Southern California. She is an Expert Reviewer for the Medical Board of California, as well as a member of the Government and Public Relations – Body MRI Committee for the American College of Radiology. Dr. Schlesinger has published several scientific articles and has presented a variety of lectures on MRI of the musculoskeletal system.

Jack Weinberg, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Weinberg has over 20 years of healthcare industry experience, primarily in the field of Diagnostic Imaging. In his early years he was Director of Operations for a start-up imaging network. His responsibilities included managing all aspect of the company, including sales and marketing, accounting and business development.
Mr. Weinberg also served as Business Manager for a rapidly growing, multi-modality, multi-location imaging company providing fixed-site and mobile Diagnostic Imaging Services. Responsibilities included site design, equipment purchase and financing, material contracts negotiator, Human Resources and controller. Responsibilities also included overseeing the professional staff, including the radiology technologist. He was also responsible for IPA, HMO, insurance contracts and other third party payors.
In his current capacity as Chief Operating Officer of MDIA, Mr. Weinberg is responsible for all operational aspects of the business, including customer service, network contracting, scheduling and IT. He is proficient in coding ICD-9, CPT, HCPS, and RBRVS. He has an understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations, and is responsible for development and implementation of all policies and procedures within the company.

Gregg Farhat, IT Manager
Mr. Farhat has nineteen years of experience in the field of Information Technology, in both hardware and software; experience at Fortune 500 companies and health care organizations includes security and HIPAA compliance, design and implementation of a nationwide VPN connection. His previous responsibilities included: managing a desktop support division for over 1,200 users; design and integration of multiple hospital data interfaces to allow data exchange from transactional databases into proprietary data systems; application development and software development life cycle.
Mr. Farhat is currently responsible for all aspects of MDIA’s Information Technology Department, including backup and disaster recovery. He is MCSE certified and has extensive experience in managing and supporting internal and external systems and networks for clients and end users, and has also interacted with upper management and other IT staff on a regular basis while evaluating new technologies for streamlining business hardware and software needs.
